No shots of Beta or Sheba but definitely a lot of great scenery.

Inglorious Beta:

This really talented MC from the 703 has been doing this thing in the DC Metro area and beyond for over the past 5 years in various group and solo project endeavors.
K-Beta’s latest project, Inglorious Beta, displays an engaging lyrical style throughout the album that pairs a diverse mix of production and subject matter, taking on Boom Bap brag tracks, storytelling scenarios and more.

The Mellow Life:

With everything from posse anthems to mellow ride out grooves on display, I’m waiting to see how many of the beats from The Mellow Life end up on some music artist’s official releases or mixtapes in the near future. The few vocal guest appearances on The Mellow Life makes the listener fully aware how the proper talent can do right by Soulful!’s skills and make some fantastic music.

"AMADI Magazine had the privilege to catch up with one of Washington, DC’s hottest artists K-Beta representing Inner Loop Records. This month K-Beta released his new album entitled “Inglorious Beta” and its creating a significant buzz beyond the DC metro area. K- Beta’s lyrical style and delivery is confident and strong, this new album definitely makes me feel like hip hop is NOT dead it’s “Inglorious” if K-Beta is on the mic. Some of my favorite tracks include: “That Black Man” “I’m Bleeding”, “DTLR” and that’s just to name a few. The entire album is epic and classic. Congratulations to K-Beta and the entire Inner Loop Records crew!"

"Hailing from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area, K-Beta is an emcee with the heart of a lion and the mind of a fox, ever so bravely and cunningly applying his vocabulary of versatility, soulful flows, and lyrical mastery on everything he touches. Carrying an immeasurable passion for music, he dedicates his life to three main confidants, aptly known as the pad, the pen, and the mic."

DJBooth.net Rating (3.5/4):

"K-Beta is here, and he’s determined to restore that balance on his new album Inglorious Beta. One of a seeming flood of supremely talented artists to come pouring out of the previously overlooked DMV, Beta’s never been afraid to speak his mind – he did name his 2006 project Ni**er the Album – and it’s that willingness to pull back the curtain and reveal his real life, for all its successes and imperfections, that makes Inglorious Beta such a gripping listen. If you’re looking to throw on an album at your next house party that will get booties poppin, you’re going to want to look elsewhere. But if you’re in need of some quality hip-hop, look no further."

Okayplayer score (86/100):

"True champions are measured by their performance in moments of uncertainty. While they suffer occasional mishaps during the flow of the game, the truest warriors find ways to win when their team needs them the most. Enter K-Beta, and his new album, Inglorious Beta, an intense autobiographical portrait with pain, anger, fury and urgency painted on its multifaceted canvas. By the conclusion of this 70-minute album, a marathon by today’s musical standards, Beta proves he belongs in the pantheon of life’s clutch players. Without question, listeners get a stronger sense of the man behind the music — the critical thinker, the activist, and the analyst."

Great review written by our good friend Marcus J. Moore.

"Modern Hip-Hop has gotten thoroughly repetitive. Interchangeable rappers release one auto-tuned song after another. Enter Inner Loop Records recording artist K-Beta, who seeks to break that mold with his new album Inglorious Beta. There is no trace of auto-tune or other audio wizardry here; every track is built around the beat, the rhymes, and the message, and with track titles like “Black Business,” “Suicide,” and “I’m Bleeding” those messages aren’t of the club hopping variety."

Amazing review, solely the reason why we make music here at Inner Loop Records.

"With Inglorious Beta, the best rap album I've heard in years, K-Beta proves that there's a reason why such past pioneers of rap are legends as he steps onto the world stage to begin his own legacy. For most people, everyday life's not only about cold cash money, bling and diamond rings or fancy cars. Instead life is about overcoming obstacles, finding strength within yourself, and making better decisions for yourself and family. In the rap world, Inglorious Beta exists on a new, modern day level of the street realities of such legendary hits as Grandmaster Flash's "The Message" and KRS One's "Step Into The World" with the creative one man force of Wu-Tang combined."

Washington, D.C. buzzmaker K-Beta has hooked up with Inner Loop Records and DJBooth.net to bring listeners his debut full-length, Inglorious Beta.

In regard to the album’s title, K-Beta stated, “The word ‘inglorious’ refers to being in a state of utter shame and disgrace…I reflected on all of the trials and tribulations of my life, and searched for perspective through reading, meditating etc. It helped me understand that shame is [a] tool with which many build hiding places. Creating this album has helped me lift up the rug and expose all of the dirt underneath.”

Featuring “Burn Thru the Journal,” “Come Closer,” and 14 more new tracks from the rising star, the project finds K-Beta joined by a wide array of DMV-based collaborators, including Diamond District (Oddisee, XO and yU), Illa Ghee, Sketch, B. Sheba, Mina and Midian. Production comes courtesy of Team Demolition, Kev Brown, Kokayi, J-Scrilla, Overok, Souful! and E-Minah aka The Grussle.

iLLVibes sat down with the Inner Loops emcee to discuss his progression, his discography, along with his latest project "Inglorious Beta" (to drop on April 1st) and his lyrical style.

I swear we didn't tell him to write this. LOL.

"Easily the best up and coming rapper we've heard in years, K-Beta is a true talent with profound messages like the many legends of hip-hop. After plugging into Inglorious Beta, K-Beta is a force to be reckoned with in a hip-hop scene that lacks true lyrical heroes. Although K-Beta is just beginning his ascent to the top of the rap game, the future of hip-hop may soon see a new king."

Great interview.

Best Jawns: Black Business, Surrender, That Black Man, Suicide, Come Closer, Another Day 2, Soul Cry, DTLR (Down The Line Rhyme), Burn Through the Journal, I’m Bleeding, With The Family, Infinite Possibilities, Smoke With Me, Life Of Crime and Outchea

Dart’s Take: I’d first like to congratulate K-Beta. Then I’d like to congratulate all of the people that contributed to this project (Kev Brown, Diamond District (yU, X.O. & Oddisee), J-Scrilla, Judah, Sketch, Team Demolition, Soulful!, Overok, Grussle, Kokayi, Median, Mina, Ill Ghee, Laelo Hood and Kevlar) and Inner Loop Records. You all have crafted one MONSTER of an album. DMV stand up!

This album will drop for FREE on April 1st but it’s FAR from a joke. This is yet another independent project made by heads without any corporate major label help that SMASHES 90% of the albums released by major labels with exorbitant budgets that took years to make.

South by Southwest’s Fourth Most Buzzed-About Artist? Oddisee

I don’t pretend to understand anything algorithmic, so I can’t really vouch for Next Big Sound, whose M.O. is “Music Meets Math.” According to its breakdown of South by Southwest, the fourth most buzzed-about artist during the festival was Oddisee, the D.C. beatmaker and member of hip-hop trio Diamond District.

Oddisee’s not bragging yet: His blog’s been silent since the Austin festival started last week. But there’s a couple of cool nuggets near the top: A snippet of a collaboration with TiRon and a video preview of the upcoming K-Beta collaboration with Diamond District, Inglorious Beta.
